Festival Vibez

It’s festival season! California’s got Coachella, Austin has SXSW, and New York has the Governor’s Ball. It’s customary to rock hippie vibes, so my girlfriends came over this weekend for a little DIY action! We made flower crowns and perfected that imperfect beach hair that all the cool festival chicks rock. Always the hostess, I offered antipasti skewers and Palm Breeze tropical “Mules.” Here’s how it’s done:

Antipasti Skewers

What You’ll Need:

  • Small Mozzarella alls
  • Fresh basil
  • Prosciutto, folded into little squares
  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Skewers (we repurposed drink stirrers- those flamingos were too cute!)

Directions:

Rinse the cherry tomatoes and basil- make sure to get all the sand out of the basil. Pierce a skewer through your ingredients in the following order: prosciutto, basil, Mozzarella, basil, cherry tomato. Serve on a long platter and enjoy!

Palm Breeze Mule

What You’ll Need:

  • Palm Breeze Strawberry Pineapple
  • Vodka
  • Ginger Beer
  • Oranges, sliced into half-moons
  • Strawberries, hulled and halved
  • Fresh mint

Directions:

Fill a copper mug with ice and drop in 2 half-moons of orange and 1 chopped strawberry. Add 1 part vodka to 2 parts Ginger Beer, and top with Palm Breeze Strawberry Pineapple. Garnish with fresh mint.

Flower Crown DIY

What You’ll Need:

  • Silk flowers with flexible wire stems
  • Florist Tape
  • Florist Wire
  • Scissors/ wire cutters

Step 1: Use the wire cutters to cut the stems off of the silk flowers, leaving about 1-2″ of stem. Wrap the florist wire around your head to measure your headpiece and then cut to size.

Step 2: Bend the stems into an “L” shape so that the flower heads point outwards when you attach them to the wire. Cut the florist tape into 2-3″ long strips and attach the flowers to the wire headpiece.

Step 3: Continue to attach silk flowers to the headpiece until you are satisfied with the overall look. Wrap extra florist tape around the ends of the headpiece so there are no pointy bits.

Bonus Tip:  Take your dog’s contributions with a grain of salt.

Festival Beach Waves

What You’ll Need:

FestivalBeachEaves-Web

Directions:

Run a small amount of anti-frizz serum through wet hair before combing it out. Spray layers of hair with a texturing or sea salt spray, scrunch it up, and allow to air dry. If you’re in a hurry, blow-dry hair with a diffuser, but don’t use a round brush! You want to maintain a natural, messy look. Once your hair is completely dry, touch up necessary areas with a 2″ curling iron. Make sure to leave the ends out of the iron and pull down to release. Run fingers through hair to mess it up- and scrunch in more texturizing spray if necessary. Don’t overthink this one- the messier, the better!

Overall, another beautiful weekend in the books! After all the DIYing we headed up to my roof to enjoy some more Palm Breeze tropical “Mules” and a gorgeous, sunny afternoon.
