I’ve been waiting for this Friday for over a month now. Yours truly is currently en route to California to visit none other than BCLB’s other contributor: Victoria! While it’s not ideal to have your sister living on the other side of the country, it is a great excuse for a long weekend in LA. I miss her lots, but thankfully she’s only a plane ride away. This weekend we intend on celebrating Memorial Day in style- at the beach with margaritas in hand. I hope you all have as much fun as we will. In the mean time, here’s what I was crushing on this week…
1. Teavana “In Bloom”
Wow. The packaging on this gift set from Teavana is simply stunning! It’s so pretty, in fact, that I can’t bring myself to throw out the box. Far from a hoarder, I just can’t stop thinking that I’ll use it for something! The “In Bloom” collection, originally designed as the perfect Mother’s Day gift, contains a beautiful glass Teapot and 3oz each of blooming white teas: Flowering Pineapple and Lemon Marigold Blossom. If you’re unfamiliar with how they work- little herbal balls unfold and bloom in hot water, presenting a delicate flower. It’s pretty awesome. After all, you
eat drink with your eyes first. This would make the ultimate gift for the woman in your life. Think: bridal parties, birthdays, engagement parties, or baby showers. Shop Teavana here. (c/o)
2. YSL Touche Eclat
The Yves Saint Laurent “Touch Éclat” has had a cult following for quite some time now. My mom used to use it, and I would sneak into her makeup drawer and try it out. With it’s sleek gold styling, it was hard to resist. I didn’t even know what it was really for! Originally, I was lead to believe that it was a concealer, but I noticed upon first use (about 15 years ago!) it didn’t cover much. Fast-forward to today’s obsession with contouring and highlighting, and I had an epiphany: It’s a highlighter! It’s not a concealer. #LeDuh. I purchased another pen recently, and I can’t get enough. Make sure to test out the color before purchasing, and consider a hue 1-2 shades lighter than your skin tone for the best results. Check it out here.
3. Pure Barre DVDs
I’ve mentioned my love for “Barre” classes before. A mix of pilates, yoga, and ballet, Barre is a challenging workout that encourages long, lean muscle development. Think ballerina bodies! Who wouldn’t want one of those? Pure Barre offers classes all over the country (one of my old college girlfriends teaches classes in North Carolina) and now that same workout is available on DVD. I got the chance to test out the “Abs” and “Seat” DVDs on a recent trip to my parents house and am loving the results! It’s perfect for those of you who travel but still want that deep burn. Just pack ’em in your suitcase! There are little to no equipment requirements, so there are no excuses, right? Shop the DVD collection here. (c/o)
4. Bite Beauty BB
I love a bright, bold lips, but sometimes those intense shades of lipstick and lip pencils can dry out your pout. A quick trip to my favorite beauty store, and my problem was solved. Bite Beauty, which is known for using only natural and food-grade ingredients, created a BB balm for your lips. It leaves them incredibly smooth and soft, with just a hint of color. I went with a light, springy hue called “Flush,” which is essentially a light, peachy pink. The balm, however, comes in several shades from a demure clear to a deep purple. I’m pretty sure this little gem is going to become a beauty staple for me. It’s just the right amount of color for a casual, summery day-time look. Check out the rest of the shades at your local Sephora.
