5 Seasonal Cocktails Inspired by Holiday Desserts

Inspired by classic holiday desserts, these sweet seasonal cocktails satisfy those sugar cravings while keeping the party going. Because desserts with a kick are the best kind of desserts.

The Desert Christmas

Mixologist Rael Petit of Delilah: a new restaurant and lounge on the Lower East Side of Manhattan (155 Rivington St.) This cocktail will be served throughout the month of December.

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz Absolut elyx vodka
  • 1 oz Singani 63
  • 0.5 oz homemade ginger syrup
  • 0.5 oz lime juice
  • 1 bar spoon of all spice

Method:

Shake ingredients and pour over crushed ice. Dust with cinnamon/cloves powder and garnish with a gingerbread man.

Christmas Pie

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz appleton reserve
  • .75 cinnamon
  • .75 lemon
  • bar spoon allspice dram
  • bar spoong apple butter

Method:

Shake and Strain into a Coupe. Garnish with Grated Nutmeg and apple slice.

Little Figgy

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz Yaguara Cachaca
  • 1 oz Fonseca Siroco white port
  • .75 oz lemon Juice
  • .5 oz cinnamon bark syrup
  • 1 heaping bar spoon fig jam
  • 2 dash orange bitters

Method:

Shake and strain into a rocks glass over crushed ice. Garnish with a mint sprig and a lemon wheel.

The Naughty Gingerbread

Mixologist Cassandra Rosen in behalf of Soltado Tequila. Made in Juanacatlán, a small town in the midlands of Jalisco, Mexico, Soltado Spicy Añejo Tequila is produced by seasoned agave growers and tequila makers, at one of only two farmer-owned, co-op distilleries in the country of Mexico.

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ oz Soltado Spicy Añejo Tequila
  • ½ oz Gingerbread Syrup
  • 2 oz almond cream
  • Pinch of cinnamon
  • Pinch of ginger
  • Pinch of nutmeg, freshly ground
  • Rim: crushed gingersnap cookies, maple syrup

Method:

Rim the glass with maple syrup and crushed gingersnap cookies, set aside to chill. In a shaker, combine Soltado Tequila, gingerbread syrup, almond cream, and spices with ice; shake one minute. Strain into chilled cocktail glass.

Nutty Texas Eggnog

  • 1.5 oz amontillado sherry
  • 4 oz traditional or vegan eggnog
  • Dash of: nutmeg, cinnamon, and fresh pepper
  • Garnish: nutmeg, cinnamon stick

Method:

Shake all ingredients with ice, strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish.
