Noble Vine Mulled Wine

January 11th marks National Hot Toddy Day! There’s no time like the present (with this cold weather and all) to imbibe a cozy cocktail with your friends. Sure you can go the traditional route… but we think its better to spice things up with the Noble Vine Mulled Wine punch from Zacapa Rum.

“This is the perfect cocktail to tie you over until spring appears. After a few sips of this hot brew of spices, sugar, citrus, wine, and rum, you will be revitalized enough to push on through the cold weather. This punch recipe can be kept warm in a slow cooker to serve at any winter party.”

 

This recipe yields 25 servings, to be enjoyed with friends

What You Need:

  • 1/2 cup Zacapa Rum 23
  • 1 750 ml bottle Dry Red Wine (Cabernet, Pinot Noir or Merlot)
  • 3/4 cup Water
  • 2 Medium Lemons, Sliced into Lemon Wheels
  • 2 Medium Oranges, Sliced into Orange Wheels
  • 1 Vanilla Bean, Halved Lengthways
  • 10 Whole Cloves
  • 5 Cardamom Pods
  • 3/4 cup Sugar in the Raw
  • 2 Cinnamon Sticks
  • 1/8 cup Sliced Almonds
  • 1 tbsp Grated Nutmeg
  • Cheesecloth
  • Butcher’s Twine
  • Cinnamon Stick and Sliced Fresh Lemon for Garnish

 

Directions:

Step 1

Combine whole cloves, cardamom pods and split vanilla bean in the cheesecloth and tie with twine. Place in pot on stove. Add remaining spices into the pot with the rest of the ingredients.

Step 2

Bring mixture to a simmer and stir to dissolve sugar. Once dissolved, keep stove on low to keep warm.

Step 3

Pour into punch glasses and garnish with Cinnamon Stick and Sliced Fresh Lemon.
