Bienvenido a Miami

Ahhh…Miami. It’s just what I needed and all I’ve thought/talked/dreamt about for the past few weeks.

Life's a Beach

The trip got off to a slightly rocky start. As soon as we approached JFK, I realized I’d forgotten my ID at the apartment. Rubbing the sleep out of my eyes I yawned,

“I don’t really think I’ll need it, right? They don’t card in Miami.”

To which my loving yet extremely perturbed boyfriend replied, “Are you kidding me? How are you gonna get on the plane, Jess?”

Oh, yea. In my defense: it was 5 am and I wasn’t all there. Luckily, we were able to get on the 9 am flight and arrived by early afternoon.

I pretty much wore the same outfit on the flight there as I did on the flight back. It’s hard to dress when it’s 30* during take off and 75* during landing, but I think I managed.

  Airport Travel Wear

I went for some coral colored jeans from Necessary Clothing, cream colored top and white blazer from Zara, gold snake-skin printed flats from Tory Burch, a cream cashmere scarf from Nordstrom, Michael Kors bedford bowling bag, and a red suit-case to match my Brookstone iPad keyboard.

As soon as we arrived at the hotel, I ditched the scarf and jacket and threw on my teal and gold Target
bikini, striped H&M tee-shirt tress, Ray Ban aviators and Havaianas for an afternoon of sun and sand.

In the evening. we headed out to the Shore Club for some sushi at Nobu. Disclaimer: This place is over-rated. I’ve had comparable sushi at  the whole-in-the-wall down the street in New York. For half the price. And much better service. But, it’s a place to see and be seen, so I donned my body-con Herve Leger from Rent the Runway and we hit the town.

I paired the rented bandage dress with my Zara blazer, tons of gold jewelry (Michael Kors, Brandy Melville, Alex and Ani, Nordstrom,) strappy nude heels from Steve by Steve Madden, and a Marc by Marc Jacobs cream and gold clutch.  After a night of sushi, vodka sodas, live bands and laughs I poured myself into bed.

Day 2 involved a full day of sun-bathing. I love mixing and matching bathing suits, so I paired a plaid-trimmed red bikini top with a nova-check bottom- both of which were from Burberry. I kept it casual with a flowy grey top from Victoria’s Secret and some denim shorts from Express.

We spent hours on the beach soaking up the sun and enjoying the warm breeze. After a few hours of relaxing we went for a bike ride up and down Ocean Ave and then back to the hotel room for another nap. Yea, it was that kind of lazy day.
In the evening, we headed to A fish Called Avalon, which was arguably the best meal we had all weekend.
Neon Coral Skater Dress
I sported a neon coral skater dress from H&M, aqua and gold jewels (Forever 21, Anthropology, Michael Kors, Brandy Melville, Alex and Ani, Nordstrom,) strappy nude heels from Steve by Steve Madden, and a Marc by Marc Jacobs cream and gold clutch.

The next morning, Phil and had a delicious breakfast at the News Cafe, took a brief stroll, and boarded the plane back to the city.

Overall, just what I needed to escape the cold and re-charge. Aaaaand now it’s back to reality.
